My friend JoAnn challenged me, during some of my early days as a blogger, to consider that people of faith who use the internet have an obligation to redeem it. As almost anyone who has spent even a nanosecond online has probably learned the hard way, there is a whole awful lot of dark, ugly stuff out there; stuff which could cause one’s to stomach turn and skin to crawl.
Peter, as many of you know, bailed me out lent me his technical expertise during my move to Word Press. I’ve mentioned him several times on my blog recently because I’ve become kind of a groupie–but not in a creepy stalker way.
Through the sale of domain names and web hosting services, New Blog Hosting makes contributions toward building wells which will supply clean water for villages in Africa. This weekend (April 27 – 28, 2012) the company is serving as a sponsor for the 2:1 blogging conference being held in Washington, DC. Peter invited conference participants and other New Blog Hosting clients to participate with him in a fundraising effort he calls
Wear a Shirt, Build a Well
For each participant who posts a photo of him/herself wearing a New Blog Hosting t-shirt, Peter will contribute $10 toward his well fund. So here’s my photo. I decided to go ahead and add the boa. Lends style and class, don’t you think?
One element I truly appreciate about the work of New Blog Hosting is that it provides bloggers and web site owners with a respectable alternative to the larger, more familiar company from which many purchase their domain names.
When the current registration period for Out of My Alleged Mind expires, I have the option of purchasing from a company which produces commercials that make my head want to explode, or from one which helps provide clean drinking water in Africa.
You betcha, I’ll be purchasing mine through New Blog Hosting.
